Appointment Cancellation Policy
To ensure the smooth running of our dental surgery and to make sure we are available to all of our patients in the most efficient manner possible, we operate the following policy in relation to changed, cancelled or missed appointments.
We require a minimum of 48 hours' notice, excluding bank holidays and weekends, for all cancellations or changes, so that we can offer that slot to another patient.
Private patients and private treatment
As with most other surgeries, we may apply a late cancellation or missed appointment charge. This charge is either the cost of the appointment — check-up (£40), hygiene (£75), emergency (£55), consultation (£55), or air polishing (£89) — or £1 per minute for a booked treatment appointment, as discussed with the dentist. This is to cover our staff and overhead costs.
If your appointment is under a membership plan, you will forfeit that appointment under your current plan.
Please note that NHS patients receiving private treatment (for example, a hygiene appointment) are treated as private patients for the purposes of this policy and the above charges apply.
NHS patients
We are unable to charge a fee for missed or late-cancelled NHS appointments. However, NHS appointments are in high demand, and failing to attend or repeatedly cancelling at short notice prevents other patients from being seen. Where an NHS patient repeatedly misses appointments or cancels with less than 48 hours' notice, we reserve the right to remove the patient from our NHS list and they may need to seek treatment elsewhere.
We trust you will understand our policy and thank you in advance for your cooperation.
