What to expect
More than just a clean
A hygienist appointment at B62 Dental typically lasts 30 minutes. Our hygienist will remove hardened plaque (calculus/tartar) from above and below the gumline using specialist instruments — something that cannot be done at home regardless of how well you brush.
Your teeth will then be polished to remove surface staining and leave them feeling smooth and fresh. The hygienist will also assess the health of your gums, measure any pockets, and advise on your brushing and flossing technique.
If signs of gum disease (periodontitis) are present, your hygienist will discuss a treatment plan to manage it — early intervention makes a significant difference to outcomes.
Removes what brushing cannot
Calculus (hardened plaque) can only be removed with professional instruments. It builds up over time even with excellent brushing.
Protects your gums
Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. Regular hygienist visits are the single most effective way to prevent it.
Fresher breath
Bad breath is most commonly caused by bacteria in plaque and between the teeth. A professional clean makes a noticeable difference.
Brighter teeth
Surface staining from coffee, tea and red wine is removed during polishing, leaving your teeth visibly cleaner and brighter.

Basic plan members receive 1 hygienist appointment per year. Silver plan members receive 2, Gold plan members receive 4 — all included in their monthly fee.
