Building good habits from the start

A child's first dental experiences shape their attitude to dentistry for life. We take particular care to make young patients feel safe, in control, and at ease — because a positive start makes all the difference.

Our approach

Gentle, patient and unhurried

We recommend bringing children for a first familiarisation visit before any treatment is needed — so their earliest memory of the dentist is a positive one. We show them the chair, the light, the mirror, and explain everything in terms they understand.

We never rush a nervous child. If a child needs a moment, we take one. The goal is always to leave them feeling proud of themselves — not relieved it's over.

We are also experienced in treating anxious children and those with special needs. Please let us know when booking so we can make the right preparations.

First visit — when?

We recommend bringing children for their first visit at around 12 months, or when their first teeth appear. Early visits build familiarity and allow us to monitor development from the start.

What we check

We examine the teeth, gums and bite, assess development, provide fluoride varnish where appropriate, and give parents practical advice on diet, brushing technique and habits like thumb-sucking.

Fees

New patient check-up (0–11 years): £40. Routine check-up (12+): £40. We will always discuss costs before treatment.

Nervous children

We are experienced in helping anxious children. We use gentle, age-appropriate language, go at the child's pace, and will never proceed without their agreement.
